Southampton will face an interesting end to the summer this season, with manager Mauricio Pellegrino getting his team ready for a push towards the top eight in the Premier League this term.
The Saints have so far managed to go the summer without losing one of their top stars, but question marks remain over the future of defender Virgil Van Dijk.
Our landlord has been offering up some free pints for our regular Southampton fans here in the Tavern this week, and they have been lapping up the good nature at the bar this week. However, talk has soon turned to the transfer window and just who the club should be looking to bring in before the end of the month.
One player who has been mentioned by our gaffer is current Man United and England defender Luke Shaw, who is enduring a frustrating time of things at Old Trafford since his £30m move from St Mary’s a few seasons ago.
Shaw looks to have all the potential in the world, but there have been differing factors which have contributed to him not quite getting going at Old Trafford. A move away from the club this summer to go and play regular football could be what he needs, and might well put him back into contention for a place in the England squad.
Southampton will no doubt have to pay a fair fee for Shaw, but they would be hoping to not pay the £30m they sold him for. If he can rediscover his form he showed in his youth, then the Saints would have a top left back on their hands.
Southampton fans, what do you think? Would you take Shaw? Let us know in the comments!Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
