Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern are anticipating the beginning of yet another new era for the club this season.
The club sacked Claude Puel in May, despite the Frenchman orchestrating a League Cup final and an eighth place finish.
Puel has been replaced by Mauricio Pellegrino who took Spanish side Alaves to the Copa Del Rey final last season.
Pellegrino has only added Polish centre-back Jan Bednarek to his side so far, but his more pressing concern is maintaining the services of Virgil Van Dijk and Cedric Soares who have both been linked with moves away.
Many Saints fans cite Southampton’s lack of goals to be Claude Puel’s ultimate downfall.
The south-coast side netted just 41 times last season, only the sides in the bottom five scored less.
Loic Remy is expected to leave Chelsea this summer and could be the player to breathe new fire into Southampton’s attack.
The Frenchman has been an outcast at the Bridge since his move in 2014, but showed superb form for both Queens Park Rangers and Newcastle prior to his big move.
The former Marseille striker endured a string of injuries last season, but the 30 year-old is fit and ready to get his name back to the top of the goalscoring charts.
Remy’s pace would be ideal for Dusan Tadic, whose excellent range of passing alongside Remy’s burst of acceleration could prove pivotal in the final third.
Saints fans, we want to hear from you! Reckon Loic Remy can do a job? Or is he passed it? Let us know in the comments!
