Southampton will be looking to build on their performance against Everton in the League Cup in midweek.
However, things will be tough for Mark Hughes’ side on Sunday when they host Chelsea at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
The Blues have not yet been beaten in the league, whilst the Saints have struggled to get wins on the board, with just two from their opening seven games.
However, it appears that Hughes will have some good news when it comes to selecting a squad to challenge Maurizio Sarri’s men.
Southampton have no fresh injury concerns, however, changes could be made to the line-up, with a number of men impressing.
Shane Long, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Ryan Bertrand and Alex McCarthy all trained and are available for selection as well.
Southampton will be buoyed by picking up the win in midweek, although the challenge of Chelsea could prove to be too much for them to overcome.
Hughes will be delighted that he has no injury concerns heading into the fixture and would have been pleased with the performances his players put in against Everton last time out.
McCarthy has been key for the St. Mary’s Stadium outfit this season, making a number of saves and will need to be at his best if they are to have a chance of getting a positive result against the Blues on Sunday.
