Southampton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have become pretty sick and tired of the big Premier League clubs taking their players.
Luke Shaw, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne have all moved on to either Liverpool or Manchester United in the past year, and now Saido Mane is a reported transfer target for the Red Devils.
The Senegal international has impressed with his pace and finishing ability as the wide man in a 4-3-3 formation under Ronald Koeman, and Louis van Gaal has identified him as a target after missing out on Spanish star Pedro to Chelsea.
With the Saints having had to continuously rebuild under Koeman, it seems they are in no mood to sell off another star man, with the club having released an official statement on the matter.
The club said: “He is a key part of our team and our planning for the future.
“He wouldn’t be sold.”
But then again, how many players turn down Manchester United? Punters in the Tavern reckon this one could get messy before the close of the window!
