Southampton to bring ex-scholar to St Mary’s in January?

Ings.jpgSouthampton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are excited to hear via The Mirror that Ronald Koeman is eyeing up a move for Burnley striker Danny Ings this January.

The 22-year-old – formerly of AFC Bournemouth – hails from Hampshire and was released by the Saints as a schoolboy.

The in-form club are now renewing their interest for the clinical finisher after being dismissed last summer.

Burnley will hope to cling on to their prized asset having gained promotion last term but they will struggle to keep him at the club as his contract expires next summer.

And there is inevitably going to be a lot of interest for the Englishman who has scored four goals in his last five games.

It has been well reported that Koeman is seeking more striking options, not only to add a different dimension up top but also someone else to rival Graziano Pelle for a starting place.

He would also be seen as a potential replacement for Jay Rodriguez as it is expected that he will follow his former manager Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham as he is closes in on an injury comeback.
