Southampton to shun Man United’s lucrative swoop for star-man

maneeeeeSouthampton fans in the Transfer Tavern are keeping everything crossed ahead of January as they look to keep their star-man, whilst the Manchester United supporters are praying that they can pull-off a huge transfer.

The Daily Mail confirms that United will reignite their interest in Sadio Mane in January but Southampton are planning to fend-off any swoops, as they did in the summer.

Mane has starred for the Saints so far this season and Ronald Koeman’s side are desperate to retain his services in the New Year, though there is said to be growing acceptance that the Senegalese international will leave next summer.

United want to spend around £20m for Mane in January, which Southampton will not accept, but an exit may be approved should Louis Van Gaal double his offer to around £40m; which seems extremely unlikely.

Crucially for United though, Mane is available to play Champions League football- which would hand the Red Devils a huge boost, as Van Gaal’s side could secure their place in the Round of 16 this evening.

United fans are still confident a deal for Mane can be pulled off, despite Southampton’s stance, but the Saints fans believe they will have to wait until the end of the campaign.

Should United spend £40m on Mane? Do they need his addition to secure the Premier League title? Let us know in the comments below!
