Southampton yet to receive approach for Fraser Forster

Southampton yet to receive approach for Fraser Forster

Southampton are expected to remain in the transfer market this summer as Mark Hughes looks to improve the squad for the upcoming Premier League season.

The Welshman has already added some quality to his side as he looks to strengthen the team in a number of different areas, including adding Angus Gunn to his goalkeeping ranks.

The transfer for the former Manchester City stopper will likely mean it is the end for Fraser Forster at the Saint Mary’s Stadium after he lost his place in the side to Alex McCarthy during the previous campaign.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Burnley, however, according to a report by the Southern Daily Echo, the club are yet to receive an approach for him.

It is understood the Clarets are wanting to loan Forster as they currently go through their a crisis when it comes to number ones.

The Verdict:

A move would be good for the 30-year-old as he has been pushed further down the pecking order at Southampton.

The Saints stopper will be looking to get his career going once again and a move to Burnley could be the ideal opportunity for him.

However, a move to the Premier League outfit would not make too much sense if he were after regular first-team football, as Nick Pope and Tom Heaton would be considered to be picked before him if they were fit and free from injury.
