Metro have a stunning claim for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that Manchester United target – Barcelona’s Thiago Alcantara could well be set to ask for a move away from the Camp Nou this summer.
The 22-year-old has stunned all at the recent European Under-21 Championships in Israel, skippering Spain to glory and netting three goals in the final.
Now it seems that in order for the player to further his career, he wants first team football week in, week out and is set to ask for a move away from the club he has grown up at to do this.
Barcelona of course boast one of the best squads in the world and their midfield is brimming with talent.
Given that Thiago is struggling to brake the stronghold of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets in the midfield, not to mention Cesc Fabregas who is waiting in the wings, now it seems a move away is the only option.
Barcelona are willing to sell the player should a club be willing to pay the £18 million release clause they are asking for. David Moyes is considering making a bid for the player who he feels could be the key to success at the club with doubts surrounding both Anderson and Tom Cleverley’s long-term quality.
Will Manchester United complement Michael Carrick with Thiago Alcantara in 2013/14? Rate this rumour below.
