Spaniard on Liverpool’s radar

sergicanos.jpgLiverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been expressing excitement as the Daily Mirror report that the Reds are tracking a young Barcelona starlet.

Barcelona are of course well known for their youth development system and the talent they hone at their La Masia academy and most of their current ‘best side in the world’ personnel came from exactly those surroundings. Now Brendan Rodgers has identified one young player he feels would be perfect for Liverpool and the Premier League.

Sergi Canos is a right winger who is currently in a contract stand off with the Catalan giants and this has given Rodgers the green light he needed to prepare a better contract offer for the 16-year-old protege in trying to lure him to England.

Rodgers has been on somewhat of a mission this season since taking over at Anfield and is determined to see the club build back up to their former glories while finishing in the highly coveted Champions League places. Not only this but in the summer as has been much discussed just about everywhere, the club will face a battle to keep hold of Luis Suarez and will lose Jamie Carragher who has already announced that he will be retiring at the end of the current campaign.

Young and talented players are just what Northern Irishman Rodgers is after and scouts not to mention the majority of Europe seem to be falling over themselves to net Canos meaning Rodgers has to move fast if he wants to land the youngster.

Could Canos prove the latest young talent to arrive at Anfield? Rate this rumour below.
