Chelsea fans are rolling around laughing here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Express claim that they will not be able to bring Romelu Lukaku back to the club.
That is according to Everton manager Roberto Martinez, who was speaking after the 4-1 thrashing of Young Boys in the Europa League and made it clear that not only does Lukaku ‘love’ Everton, but his words following the Chelsea game were taken massively out of context.
He claimed: “It was clearly someone looking for a headline about if Rom wanted to perform in order to come back to Chelsea, and his answer probably didn’t reflect what he meant.”
Now we think it is pretty hard to misunderstand someone stating they want to leave for a ‘top club’ but evidently Lukaku attends the same school of misunderstanding in Merseyside that Luis Suarez did.
When it comes to former club Chelsea, Everton can probably breathe easy considering Jose Mourinho performed the equivalent of selling water to a well by convincing Everton they needed to pay £28 million to land the forward, we doubt Lukaku will be returning to Stamford Bridge any time soon.
Chelsea fans. Does the very idea of this leave you wanting a stiff drink? Let us know your thoughts below.
