As Pete Jenson sits down at the bar here in the Football Transfer Tavern, he lets us in on a snippet of gossip he has just published in the Daily Mail.
The journalist claims that Manchester City fans can breath a huge sigh of relief – at least for the minute – as Barcelona are not interested in signing Sergio Aguero.
It had been claimed that the Catalan club were making moves to sign the Argentine forward, who has shown time and time again that not only is he one of the best in the world, but is arguably the most natural finisher in the Premier League.
The ex-Atletico Madrid forward would be worth around £50 million should City be persuaded to part with him, but as our punters note, that would not exactly be the wisest move given how important he has become to the title contenders.
City have struggled at the back this term, but the likes of Aguero, Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure have been vital to them, and to even consider selling them would be a massive step in the wrong direction according to our regulars.
One player who could well be on his way out of the club however is Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian forward, who has often been nicknamed ‘super sub’ has struggled to get chances under manager Manuel Pellegrini and has a host of clubs vying for his signature should he chose to leave in the January transfer window.
