After Arsenal had submitted two bids for Liverpool star Luis Suarez last week, punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been wondering how long it would take for rivals to make their move.
Today’s Mirror Football reports that Real Madrid will finally launch a bid for the Uruguayan striker this week.
The La Liga side have been repeatedly linked with a summer swoop for the 26-year-old former Ajax man and it now seems they will make the formal bid that has been expected during the current transfer window.
In news that will please Arsenal supporters in the tavern, the Bernabeu side are reportedly prepared to let Gunners target Gonzalo Higuain leave with a replacement discovered in Suarez.
However some sources from Spain now indicate that Higuain may be included as part of a deal to bring the Liverpool striker to Spain alongside a £10 million fee.
Although the Reds are expected to be rejected in any deal involving the Argentine forward it shows a statement on intent from the Spanish side as the step up their chase for the controversial striker.
Liverpool have already insisted that Suarez remains a Liverpool player and will not be sold unless any club matches their £40 million valuation, something Madrid are expected to do in late August.
Is Suarez far more likely to join Real Madrid than Arsenal this summer? Will Real then sell Higuain to Arsenal? Let us know your thoughts below.
