The Daily Mail have Tottenham fans looking more than a little bit worried here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it has been claimed that the club could well be set to miss out on the signing of Brazilian international Paulinho.
The Lilywhites had looked like the front runners in a deal for the £17 million rated Corinthians midfielder who is currently on duty at the Confederations Cup for his nation and Andre Villas-Boas was increasingly confident of signing the young star.
This confidence was despite the whole host of interest in the starlet from top sides around Europe including Serie A giants Roma and Inter Milan where there was even rumours of a pre-contractual agreement between the parties.
Now it seems that Real Madrid’s manager elect Carlo Ancelotti is set to instruct Florentino Perez to make a late bid for the player and kick off his summer of signings at Los Blancos.
Spurs are thought to be unnerved at the news and as one of our punters urges, need to move quickly if they are to prevent the player falling into the luring grasp of the Spanish giants. The White Hart Lane club were only hoping to have to pay around £15 million for the 24-year-old yet now it seems will have to find the extra couple of million from somewhere.
Will Tottenham lose out in the race to land Paulinho this summer? Will he join Real? Rate this rumour below.
