The Daily Mail have Spurs fans looking up in what can only be described as amusement here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that Real Madrid have rejected the chance to take forward Emmanuel Adebayor back to the club.
As part of the complicated negotiations over the world record transfer of Gareth Bale, Daniel Levy tried to offload the hit and miss forward, who as we all know played at the Bernabeu under Jose Mourinho on loan back in 2011, yet new manager Carlo Ancelotti was less than thrilled over the prospect of having the player back, declining the offer.
Now it seems that the Bale deal will have to be cash and a player going from Madrid to North London with Florentino Perez more than willing to offer left back Fabio Coentrao yet Spurs are pushing for young Spanish Under-21 international forward Alvaro Morata.
Meanwhile, Adebayor is currently in France on compassionate leave yet has been told that he will be allowed to leave the club given the state of his relationship with manager Andre Villas Boas.
The Portuguese tactician has of course has wasted no time in getting a replacement forward in, bringing Spanish international Roberto Soldado in while pushing hard to bring Morata to White Hart Lane to boot.
