There is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Mail that Tottenham are set to face a world record bid from Real Madrid for their star man.
Only a day after it was claimed that Bale would ‘one million per cent’ be staying at the club according to Tim Sherwood, now it seems Florentino Perez is set to launch a staggering £85 million bid for the player and hold nothing back in his quest to make Bale on of his new Galacticos.
Now it seems that Spurs will not only have to resist the mega offer but as one of our punters points out, Bale’s head surely must have been turned by all the attention Real Madrid have been lavishing on him – not to mention the chance to play with superstars such as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bale for his part is happy to stay at Spurs for at least one more season on a double your money deal and cites his relationship with Andre Villas-Boas as one of the main reasons for him doing this.
Perez of course has been re-elected as president and after witnessing not only a total failure of a campaign last season he also saw Neymar join Barcelona ahead of Los Blancos.
Do you think £85 million is too much for Bale? Let us know your thoughts below.
