There is serious drama in the Football Transfer Tavern after we hear the latest claim from the Daily Star.
Our punters crowd around the bar to listen to our landlord, who claims that not only are Manchester United moving in on Atletico Madrid sensation Koke, but that the Spanish side are also looking to bring in not one but two Chelsea players to compensate.
Manchester United have long been fans of 21-year-old Koke, who has a £16 million release clause in his contract.
The attacking midfield star has been a sensation for his side this season and manager Diego Simeone is preparing to lose him this winter.
To compensate for the huge loss of his star man, the Argentine is hoping to bring in Juan Mata and Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea.
Mata of course has seen his star fade rather dramatically under Jose Mourinho and is now fully aware that to get a place in the Spanish squad this summer, he needs to be playing week in, week out and that will have to be somewhere other than Stamford Bridge.
De Bruyne meanwhile has reportedly been given Mourinho’s blessing to leave Stamford Bridge and could well join the Madrid side from the Blues this winter.
As our landlord notes, landing Koke would be a huge boost for David Moyes and would go a long way to placating fans who at the minute are growing more and more unhappy with each passing game.
Will this transfer merry-go-round really take place this winter? Let us know your thoughts below.
