Spanish international admits he snubbed Liverpool switch

tello.jpgLiverpool fans do not exactly look thrilled here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they hear about the latest claim from the Metro.

In fact, our landlord has given them a couple of free pints to soften the blow somewhat!

The publication claims that Barcelona starlet Cristian Tello snubbed advances from the Reds this summer, and in actual fact, was never really too keen on a move in the first place.

The highly rated 22-year-old who recently won his first cap for the Spanish senior national team spoke to the media and noted: “I always wanted to stay here.

“The coach has confidence in me, I’m happy and ready to play. I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never thought about leaving.”

Having come through the youth ranks at the Catalan giants, Tello has often been linked with a move away from La Liga, yet feels confident at the trust placed in him and is willing to stay and fight for his place on the flanks.

Of course this is not exactly the best news for Brendan Rodgers, who as we all know did not have the most relaxing summer trying to keep Luis Suarez at the club.

Not only that but Rodgers was also of course attempting to bring in some new faces of his own – and did not do too badly on that front either.

As the idea of returning in January for the winger is mooted, one of our punters slams his fork down onto the bar and claims that if he rejected the club once, why would they bother trying to land him again? They are sat top of the Premier League table after all!

Liverpool fans. Did you need Cristian Tello anyway or do you have enough in the wide areas? Let us know your thoughts below.
