Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have started to see their nerves rise ahead of this evening’s Europa League final with Sevilla but they’re distracting themselves by discussing the latest reports from the continent.
Spanish outlet Fichajes states Spanish minnows Espanyol are expressing interest in landing want-away Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli this summer, who has spent a relatively unsuccessful season on-loan at former side AC Milan.
Liverpool made a surprise move to bring Balotelli, formerly of Manchester City, back to the Premier League for £16m two years ago, following Luis Suarez’ move to Barcelona, but the risk hasn’t paid off and the Italian is likely to leave permanently this summer.
Although Espanyol are keen on the player’s services, Balotelli has made it clear his preference is to remain in Italy and re-sign for Milan on a permanent basis- although, as of yet, no offer from the San Siro side has been forthcoming.
Our landlord can’t see this move going ahead, though he does believe the striker will leave Liverpool.
Should Klopp had Balotelli another chance at Liverpool? Let us know in the comments below!
