Manchester United supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking suitably depressed after today’s 4-1 defeat to rivals Manchester City when Paul Hetherington from the Daily Star arrives with news it being a smile to their faces.
Hetherington suggests that Barcelona star Andres Iniesta could become a potential target for David Moyes after rejecting a new contact at the Camp Nou.
The Spanish superstar is understood to be disappointed with the offer on the table given his importance to the side despite the fact Barca have suggested a £200,000-a-week deal to the midfielder.
Iniesta believes he should be in a similar wage bracket to Lionel Messi at the club and the 29-year-old could think about leaving if they fail to improve the offer.
This should alert a host of top European sides to his potential availability and both United and City will certainly be very interested in one of the best players in the world.
Of course here in the tavern we believe that Iniesta, who memorably scored the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup Final, will finish his career in Spain but the slightest suggestion that he could one day grace the Premier League has caused much excitement.
Can you really see the Spanish maestro arriving in the Premier League? Let us know your thoughts below.
