An interesting transfer story has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern, courtesy of Paul Brown at the Daily Star.
Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a deal to bring Manchester City star Sergio Aguero to the Bernabeu in a deal worth a whopping £45 million.
Aguero has reportedly become disillusioned with life in Manchester following the break up of his marriage, and is flattered by the interest of the Spanish champions.
However it has also emerged that Barcelona have entered the race for his signature, as they reportedly see the Argentine as a like for like replacement for David Villa, should the Spaniard turn down the new contract he is set to be offered.
This has seen Real up the ante, and offer either Gonzalo Higuain or Karim Benzema as part exchange in the hopes that that will prove the difference in sealing the deal.
Real president Florentino Perez is wary that the club may lose Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, and is looking for a big money replacement in order to seal his re-election.
Tottenham star Gareth Bale is believed to be Real’s other top target, although the Welshman will not come cheap after Spurs placed a £50million price tag on his head.
Real were interested in Aguero before he opted to join City in a £38m deal in the summer of 2011, but Atletico Madrid were not willing to sell to their biggest rivals.
Will Aguero flee back to Spain in the summer? Rate this rumour below.
