The Arsenal fans were delighted with their side’s 2-1 aggregate victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night following 180 minutes of cagey football.
Arsene Wenger continued his excellent record against Antonio Conte this week with a 4th victory over the Italian in 8 matches. From those 8 matches, Wenger has lost just once back in February 2017, and he has won all but one of his cup matches in the same period. Arsenal’s long-serving manager will now take his side to Wembley in February with every hope of adding the League Cup to his list of managerial achievements.
Despite winning 3 league titles, and 7 FA Cups during his Arsenal career, he has never managed to clinch a maiden League Cup victory. Plenty has been made of Wenger’s success, or perceived lack of success in recent years, and those discussions provoked the Arsenal manager to take aim at Tottenham earlier this week.
In a blatant dig at his local-rivals, Wenger proclaimed that the British media “celebrate some teams who have not been in a final for 25 years” prior to his side’s semi-final clash against Chelsea.
And Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino has responded to these comments by claiming Wenger “made a mistake” by talking about The Lilywhites in such a manner.
However, the Arsenal supporters naturally share a completely different point of view to the Spurs boss, and they have taken to Twitter to voice support for their manager and criticise their local-rivals for their failure to collect silverware in recent years.
Here’s how the Arsenal fans reacted into Pochettino’s comments on Twitter yesterday…

What's the mistake? Wenger just stated a fact
— belfast_Gunner (@Congry90) January 25, 2018
He didn’t question their “success”, he was talking about the way different clubs are treated in the media and didn’t name anyone. Don’t let that get in the way though.

Poch is right, Arsenal and Spurs are miles apart. #MindTheGap

Wenger never mentioned teams so if Poch wants to take it as a dig at Spurs then thats because he knows they are failing miserably on the trophy count

Poch is the new age wenger , specialist in failure just the same
