The Football Transfer Tavern is packed this evening as punters try and shelter from the pouring rain outside.
It’s been a somewhat quiet month on the transfer front as clubs concentrate on actually playing football but Jamie Sanderson from Metro has arrived in the bar with some rather intriguing reports.
Sanderson suggests that Arsenal could move for AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli in the summer as part of their recent sponsorship deal with Puma.
The Gunners announced a multi-million partnership with the German sportswear manufacture last month and now speculation indicates that the bosses at Puma want to put two of their key brands together.
Arsene Wenger is thought to be interested in the Italian international, who became a tavern favourite during his spell with Manchester City, but has been put off by his massive £40 million valuation.
However Italian reports have indicated to Sanderson that the company could be ready to help finance the deal to the tune of £15 million.
The 23-year-old seems to have rediscovered his form at Milan, hitting 25 goals in just 38 matches and he would be a stunning capture for the Gunners as they look to add more firepower.
Stranger things have certainly happened in the transfer market.
