In the Football Transfer Tavern, we have regular lock-ins which involve highly intense FIFA tournaments.
I always enjoy these nights – despite the extra clearing up it means I have to do – because, unlike most things in life, FIFA is something I’m not ‘alf bad at.
We have one rule in our tournaments, and that is you have to include one ‘banter’ player in your team’s starting XI.
For example, if you were Manchester United you’d have to have Danny Welbeck leading your line rather than the prolific Robin van Persie.
One punter, and regular competitor in our FIFA tournaments, refuses to be anyone else other than Arsenal – despite being a Spurs fan – which means, rather unfortunately, that he is forced to play the over confident* Nicklas Bendtner.
At our most recent tournament, a customer had photoshopped together a rather amusing cartoon for our Arsenal-FIFA fanatic.
It appears that even Arsene Wenger can see the funny side to Bendtner’s bravado and lack of talent.
*Over confident may not be the word the punters use but legally I can’t repeat what they say
