It’s almost hard to remember the days before footballers had Twitter.
The times when Michael Owen wasn’t telling us about what he achieved in his career on a seemingly daily basis!
The times when Joey Barton wasn’t busy trying to prove how intelligent he was and getting himself into further trouble right in front of our eyes.
And the times when players couldn’t openly tap up other players, as it appears Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny has attempted here.
The Polish goalkeeper tweeted his fellow countryman Robert Lewandowski ahead of their Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund, with a message designed to persuade the in-demand forward (who has just eight months to run on his contract) to make the move to North London.
“Listen, Robert Lewandowski, the jokes are over! London calling :)”
But judging by the way Lewandowski buried his finish beyond Szczesny last night, something tells me he hasn’t listened!
