Had you asked us after the opening game of the season against Aston Villa, we in the Football Transfer Tavern would have predicted a rather bleak season and much of the same old, same old for Arsenal.
However, as this viral image shows, the Gunners have been fortunate enough to witness a rather dramatic turnaround in fortunes in recent weeks.
The North London club currently sit proudly at the top of the Premier League – and a goal ahead of arch-rivals Tottenham – and will be hoping to gain even more ground on one of their rivals next weekend when Chelsea face Spurs.
After pulling off a master stroke and netting Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid on deadline day, Wenger now seems to have been honoured on a postage stamp that also details the lofty position that the Gunners currently find themselves in!
With their key players in scintillating form – particularly Aaron Ramsey – Arsenal are not only leading the pack domestically but have also recorded a win in their Champions League group of death to boot.
Yes fans may have wanted to see a couple more names come in this summer – particularly in the striking department – but as our wise barmaid notes over pouring yet another pint, carry on in this vein and players will be flocking to join in January. It is not like Wenger is short of cash after all!
The Arsenal manager looks remarkably good on a postage stamp, and should his side fail to win trophies yet again, and the Frenchman chose to walk away, it seems he already has another career lined up in the British Royal Family!
