The Football Transfer Tavern, the place where football fans come to drink, eat and debate football.
The latest debate involves comments from Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, who suggested that team-mate Wojciech Szczesny was the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
Initially this brought sniggers from a lot of punters, as many were in the tavern on the day of the 2011 Carling Cup Final in which the Polish international was involved in a mix up that gifted Birmingham City the trophy.
However, as one punter pointed out, this season Szczesny has been in inspired form with the Arsenal man being the second most selected goalkeeper in the tavern’s fantasy football league – Hugo Lloris is the most.
Things did start getting out of hand though and tensions rose but thankfully my landlord stepped in and calmed down proceedings.
My landlord suggested a confidential vote to decide who is the best keeper in the Premier League.
The vote hasn’t been tallied yet but one voting paper read: “I choose whoever Rio Ferdinand and David de Gea do.”
Any idea what that means?
