I never thought I’d see the day where the Manchester United punters, in the Football Transfer Tavern, wouldn’t have something to celebrate.
Just like their team has dominated for the last twenty years or so, the United regulars have dominated the tavern. They hang their scarves from the ceiling beams, bring in their signed United memorabilia to show off and even purchased me a Red Devils shirt with ‘Bartender 01’ on the back – I never wear it.
That dominance is well and truly over.
It has been a bitter pill for our United punters to swallow, so much so, they’ve stopped drinking the pints and now head straight for the hard stuff – Jack Daniels on the rocks.
Naturally, United’s crumbling empire means there is now a need for a new team to step up to the plate.
The Arsenal customers believe it is now their time for a bit of glory and are thoroughly enjoying themselves at the top of the Premier League tree.
United’s demise is even sweeter for the Gooners because of a certain striker that now plays at Old Trafford.
Maybe, Robin van Persie is wishing he stuck around a little bit longer at the Emirates Stadium…
