Arsenal

Spoof: Arsenal’s midweek opponents beaten before kick off!

As one of our punters in the Football Transfer Tavern notes, the irony in the latest spoof that has arrived at the bar is shocking!

Whilst most clubs boast drab designs – the usual black, blue and reds are seen far too much for our liking in the tavern – Napoli have gone for a rather more adventurous number.

Not only does their army worthy away strip act as form of camouflage , but their performance could be said to have done the same as well in terms of going invisible on Tuesday evening!

Rafael Benitez’s side are flying high in Serie A and most people thought they would do rather well in Europe. After managing to beat Borussia Dortmund in their first Champions League group stage game, Napoli faced a trip to the Emirates Stadium.

We have to admit, we thought that Arsenal could struggle in the so-called group of death but that is proving not the case at all.

Now sitting at the top of the Premier League table and their Champions League group to boot, they are gunning down all before them.

With the likes of Mesut Ozil in their side, Arsenal now look like the favourites to top the group. That is one thing, but for Napoli to disappear during the mouthwatering fixture was another thing altogether but it was all explained by donning their camouflaged away jersey.

As one of our punters quips, Benitez loves the Europa League and is personally defending the trophy having won it with Chelsea last term.

Given how his new side performed this week in the Champions League, he could well get the chance to defend it a lot sooner than he initially thought!
