Someone who has yet to set the Premier League alight since completing a £30 million move to Chelsea in the summer is Brazilian wide man Willian.
The former Anzhi Makhachkala man caused quite a fuss during the summer, first of all upsetting Liverpool by snubbing them for Tottenham, and then upsetting Tottenham even more by snubbing them for Chelsea – after he had completed a medical at White Hart Lane!
Some people – I think they are called conspiracy theorists – reckon Chelsea – who already have the likes of Juan Mata, Andre Schurrle, Oscar, Eden Hazard, and Kevin De Bruyne competing for the position in which Willian plays – only completed the deal in order to stop Tottenham strengthening.
And judging by the impact he has had so far, maybe those conspiracies are right.
Willian has struggled to break into the first team, and has been used sparingly as a substitute and in the Capital One Cup thus far.
In fact, he is so desperate to get involved, he has even taken to being the Chelsea ball boy when he’s not playing, as this snap from Sunday’s win over Manchester City proves.
Let’s just hope he gives the ball back to Eden Hazard in good time!
