What is it with Chelsea and strikers?
Stamford Bridge seems to have become some sort of bizarre forcefield that saps the power of once great strikers in recent times.
Andriy Shevchenko, Fernando Torres, and now it seems it’s doing it’s best with Samuel Eto’o.
But away from Stamford Bridge, strikers rediscover their power it seems.
Daniel Sturridge, Romelu Lukaku and now … young Blues reserve Lucas Piazon?
Whilst Torres, Eto’o and Demba Ba are without a Premier League goal between them, young Brazilian forward Piazon is doing so well for himself on loan at Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, that the clubs Ultras fanbase have made him his own banner declaring him the ‘Legend of the derby.’
The 19-year-old – who was on loan at Malaga last term – has struck three goals in his first six league games for his new Eredivisie club, one of which turned out to be a last minute winner in the local derby against NEC Nijmegen.
This feat seems to have won him a place in the hearts of his new fans for life, despite the fact he has only been in Holland for a month or so.
Piazon took to Twitter to thank the ‘amazing fans’ for their support.
Another example to anyone who is a striker plying their trade at Stamford Bridge – get out while you still can!
