Here in the Football Transfer Tavern, our punters were shocked when John Obi Mikel scored for Chelsea yesterday. He registered his first goal since joining the Blues and one which puts him ahead of all three forwards at the club. Combined. Not exactly good reading for Blues fans or manager Jose Mourinho really.
That being said, the viral one of our punters passed to our landlord whilst ordering a pint shows that things could be looking up for Jose Mourinho. The steward stood behind the Chelsea manager bares more than a passing resemblance to Wayne Rooney. The forward was of course courted by Chelsea all summer, and left the club in rather a sticky situation given they had to buy Samuel Eto’o instead.
Eto’o looks more than a little bit past it so far. In fact, as one of our punters quips, back when Eto’o impressed, you could buy a Freddo Frog for 10p. Neither Demba Ba or Fernando Torres have looked up to scratch either and you could forgive Mourinho for being rather disappointed with his attacking options.
Well looking at the guy stood behind him, perhaps he should turn around and ask if the steward bares resemblance to Rooney on the field as well as off it. Even if he does not, Jose may as well take his chances and offer the lookalike a trial! After all, even if he does not score, he will still be on a par with the other three forwards at the club!
