It’s hardly been the ideal start to 2014 for David Moyes and Manchester United.
New Years Day saw Moyes’s boys suffer their sixth defeat of the season – and amazingly their fourth at Old Trafford – at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.
The result left United’s hopes of retaining their title in tatters, as they now trail league leaders Arsenal by 11 points.
To make matters worse, Howard Webb also confirmed he is no longer a Manchester United fan during the game, after refusing to offer a clear cut penalty to Ashley Young.
And now Moyes has had salt rubbed into his wounds, by one of the many, many midfielders he attempted to sign in the summer, without success.
Roma midfielder Daniele Rossi was supposedly the subject of interest from both Manchester United and Chelsea this summer, and has recently told the Italian press how he was happy with his decision to reject the Premier League Champions in favour of staying with Roma.
‘Thank goodness I didn’t go to Manchester United, otherwise I would have committed suicide by now.’
Okay Daniele, talk about kicking someone while they are down!
