If there’s one thing I’ve learnt during my time working at the Football Transfer Tavern, it is that there is nothing quicker than the changes in fortune, for a manager or footballer, on the ‘Hero/Villain’ cycle.
Less than twelve months ago, David Moyes departed Goodison Park and headed for Old Trafford with the well wishes of the Toffees faithful.
However, ahead of Sunday’s game – which will be shown live in the tavern on our new HD projector screen – a few of the Everton supporting punters cannot wait to stick the knife into their former gaffer.
The talk all week has been how that (apparently) the now Manchester United manager was in fact holding Everton back – never amazes me the fickle nature of a football fan.
Over a JD or two, the customers relayed stats and facts that they had seen in order to prove how much better Roberto Martinez is, compared to the now vilified Scotsman.
In fairness, this little statistic was a real eye opener, though…
