You can guarantee a great atmosphere in the Football Transfer Tavern when either the Merseyside or North London derbies are on. However, neither compare to the buzz around the place for when Manchester’s big boys face one another.
Last night was no different but, for the first time ever, we had more City fans in than Red Devils.
There was an air of acceptance in the air, from the United-supporting punters, that David Moyes was going to guide them another unwanted record – first time since the Premier League was launched that United have lost both games to City and Liverpool.
City fans had clearly come prepared and throughout the 90 minutes they displayed various banners – If my landlord was in I’d have been a good employee and ordered then to be taken down.
After the comfortable 3-0 win for City, their fans decided to take the party into the town centre and, rather frustratingly, left all their banners in a mess on the snooker tables.
The majority of them were either ripped or covered in beer and peanuts. However, I did manage to save one and, for now, David Moyes has managed to avoid one unwanted record…
