Saturday bought around a day that many of us never thought we would see in our lifetime, no matter how much we hoped!
The day Manchester United were described as being in a ‘relegation battle’.
True, it was a tad premature and slightly untrue to be advertising United’s clash with Sunderland as a relegation battle, but hats off to whoever described it as that on this chalkboard outside an unidentified rival boozer, as it is possibly the only time in recent history United could be deemed to be in that situation – and it’s been caught on camera.
United fans will say fans of rival teams have been enjoying their tough start to the season a little too much – and this is evidence to suggest that is true.
But after years of glory and success under Sir Alex Ferguson, surely rival supporters should be allowed to enjoy United’s sticky patch while it lasts?
And United showed enough to suggest it won’t last too much longer, as they came away with a 2-1 win at the Stadium of Light in their crucial relegation six-pointer, to take them up to the dizzying heights of… ninth.
