The Football Transfer Tavern threw a brilliant Oscars-themed night, this week.
The red carpet was rolled out by the entrance, the punters put on their best glad rags (although one bloke came in his full Tottenham Hotspur kit) and the kitchen staff produced food we didn’t even know they had in their lockers.
My landlord was a superb host and handed out various awards:
- Best actor went to Liverpool’s Luis Suarez for his theatrics
- Best director went to Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho who, despite having no striker, has guided his team to top spot in the Premier League
- Best supporting actor was awarded to West Ham United’s assistant manager Neil McDonald who continually has to do Sam Allardyce’s press conferences when he’s sulking
For the first time ever, no awards were handed out to Manchester United. However, they were still the main topic of conversation with some of our more high profile customers enjoying a laugh at the Red Devils’ expense…
