Spoof: Mourinho ‘the destroyer’ strikes again for Chelsea!

Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have a huge amount of sympathy for Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata after the midfielder was left out in the cold by Jose Mourinho.

One of our regulars even offers some advice for the former star man. He thinks that Mata should give his good friend Iker Casillas a call and ask what to do when not only does Jose Mourinho bench you, but your replacement becomes the man of the match.

That leads our landlord to go and dig out the viral image he was given earlier this week. The image below shows the players that Jose Mourinho has seemingly ‘destroyed’ and it makes for astounding reading. In fact, it is nearly as long as the Special One’s list of trophies. But is it all as it seems?

Not only did former world player of the year, Kaka, get benched by Mourinho, but Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas did as well. In Mourinho’s defence, the situation with Casillas had more layers of complexity than Manchester United found with the Basque tax laws when trying to buy Ander Herrera!

Casillas’ replacement Diego Lopez also performed outstandingly in between the sticks and is still Real Madrid number one now – under a new manager at that.

Kaka may have moved to Madrid on the back of his sensational time at AC Milan, but it was not just Mourinho who struggled to get the best out of the Brazilian. Now injured at AC Milan, Kaka has refused wages until he is ‘able to contribute to the team.’ Something that has Real Madrid fans scratching their heads – given he did nothing for the duration of his contract with them, yet still pocketed his wages each week!

Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea. Three clubs that Ricardo Quaresma failed to make the grade at. As our landlord notes, rather than blaming Mourinho for destroying the winger, perhaps people should take the time to consider why he cannot perform outside of Portugal! He may have been decent at both Sporting Lisbon and Porto, but was awarded the Bidone d’oro in 2008 – the award for the worst player in Serie A! Not exactly emulating the success of compatriot Crisitano Ronaldo really…

As our landlord summarises, no matter who you are, how much you have cost before or how well you have previously done, this does not Mata to the Special One. Mourinho will reportedly give Juan Mata the chance to prove him wrong – and that will begin in the Capital One Cup at Swindon Town on Tuesday night.
