Match of the Day offered us a very interesting statistic on Saturday night.
Whilst analysing Newcastle’s United’s fourth straight Premier League victory over West Bromwich Albion – courtesy of another two goals from French players Yoan Gouffran and Moussa Sissoko – someone decided to work out just how many goals had been scored for the Magpies by those from across the channel.
Incidentally, as this graphic shows Newcastle are the team that in fact have the second highest number of French league goal scorers in EUROPE over the course of this season – second only to Lyon!
That puts Alan Pardew’s side ahead of the likes of Ligue 1 teams such as Marseille, Saint-Etienne and Guingamp.
Whilst the Magpies have come in for some criticism in recent times for signing too many French players, at least now they can say they’ve signed ones capable of scoring goals!
