‘I shot the Sheriff’ was blaring out on the Football Transfer Tavern’s jukebox on Thursday night as Tottenham Hotspur took on FC Sheriff in the Europa League.
The ironic thing is, Thursday nights in the Tavern are usually full of Arsenal fans who come in with the sole aim to wind-up the Spurs punters.
Usually, the night passes without much trouble, just the odd chants back and forth, but following Arsenal’s midweek loss to Borussia Dortmund the atmosphere was a little more hostile than usual.
I had quickly popped down to the cellar to grab a couple of fresh kegs when I heard an almighty thud.
When I got back upstairs, I saw that the television had a bar stool lodged in it!
The bar was in a stunned silence until a Spurs fan said: “That will teach that Sheriff lot”
I immediately threw everyone out of the Tavern and started cleaning up the mess with thoughts of how I’m going to explain this to the Landlord, flying around my head.
I wonder what annoyed the Spurs fans so much, any idea?
