Things seem to have a funny way of working out in football, as Wednesday night’s round of Champions League football proved.
Gonzalo Higuain spent the majority of the summer being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium – a move which never materialised.
Instead, the Argentine striker opted to join Serie A side Napoli in a move worth over £30 million.
Arsene Wenger failed to sign the striker he had hoped for, and Arsenal’s hopes of challenging were all but written off.
Fast forward three months, and Higuain is snapped in floods of tears on the pitch, as Napoli are knocked out of the Champions League at the expense of – Arsenal of course.
Despite his goal in a 2-0 win for Napoli, Wenger’s Premier League leaders went through alongside Borussia Dortmund at the expense of Rafael Benitez’s side on goal difference.
Do you think he’s crying because he realised he joined the wrong club?
