I’m probably the funniest person in the Football Transfer Tavern – and I’m not even remotely humorous. Therefore, as I’m sure you can imagine, laughter is about as rare as a Manchester United victory under David Moyes.
Liverpool fans have the worst sense of humour.
After the mauling Brendan Rodgers’ side gave Arsenal on Saturday, the Liverpool punters were feeling pretty smug.
One walked up to the bar, grinning from ear-to-ear and went to me: “Can I have a bottle of beer?” He then turned to the Arsenal customers and went, through a flood of tears of laughter: “You wouldn’t know about beer bottles?”
The Arsenal fans looked confused. So was I. Then, another Liverpool regular ran over and said: “No Raheem! That wasn’t the punchline.”
Now, that brought about laughter. Classic Liverpool supporters, ey?!
The awful attempt at a joke, aside; the Liverpool fans do have a point. Arsenal just didn’t turn up for the game at Anfield.
