It is a rare thing for a player to be despised by our Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur punters. However, Emmanuel Adebayor falls easily into that category.
You should’ve been in the tavern the day Adebayor did his, now infamous, celebration against Arsenal. I thought one punter was going to rip the TV off of its wall bracket. They were spitting venom.
The Spurs regulars loved that day but I doubt they would’ve laughed so much if they knew that ol’ Ade would rock up in their half of North London.
One customer described Emmanuel as: “Lazy, disinterested and, basically, bloody awful” and apparently that’s just his good qualities!
My landlord once came up with an Emmanuel Adebayor drinking game, where you had to do a shot of the tavern’s home-made vodka – it’s legal, honestly – and every time Ade fluffed a chance, you had to drink.
Needless to say, the tavern’s takings, when the punters are playing the game, are some of the highest ever.
Despite all this, it does appear that the Spurs striker has finally delivered, all be it off the pitch.
