Phew! What a day it was yesterday in Football Transfer Tavern, we had so much to discuss, from how many goals Didier Drogba will score against his former employers Chelsea to the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas as Tottenham manager.
The majority of the Spurs fans were delighted to see the back of the former Porto manager but a few Arsenal fans chanted, throughout the day, “AVB we wanted you to stay!”
We had the Spurs vs Liverpool game on in the tavern on Sunday but only on a useless little portable – sadly, our 72-inch TV is no longer around because my landlord lost a bet with the landlord of our rival ‘Rumour Mill Bar’.
It was an all too familiar scene for our customers from the white half of North London, no shots on target, Roberto Soldado starved of service and the failure of Villas-Boas to bring on Jermain Defoe.
It even prompted one Spurs fan to suggest that maybe they could do with using Emmanuel Adebayor – I refused this guy any more drinks after that statement as he had clearly already had too much.
Despite his call for Adebayor, one eagle eye punter pointed out that AVB couldn’t have called upon the former Arsenal striker on Sunday because he was already working part-time as a White Hart Lane steward!
