Due to our location, the Football Transfer Tavern was absolutely packed out on Saturday with, I’d say, 90 per cent of the customers being West Ham United or Fulham fans.
The calls to put the ‘P45 derby’ on the big screen were huge and despite it not being live on BT Sport or Sky Sports, my landlord found some dodgy stream which he hooked-up to the TV – keep that between us please.
As we now all know, the Hammers cruised to a 3-0 victory and that turned out to be the final nail in Martin Jol’s Fulham coffin. If you are reading Martin, we’ve got a great deal on whisky at the moment and I’m happy to listen to your woes while on the dole.
There were a lot of happy and relieved Irons supporters in the tavern, as goals had been hard to come by of late for Sam Allardyce’s side.
Though it appears that one happy Hammer – perhaps working behind the scenes at the BBC – got a little too carried away with the amount that Carlton Cole & co had actually scored!
