Tottenham are being linked with a double swoop for left-back Gabriel Heinze and defensive midfielder, Lassana Diarra.
Although Spurs are already enjoying a highly successful season, boss Harry Redknapp is keen to make just a few more additions to his squad, in order to bridge the remaining gap between them and Premiership title rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Real Madrid’s Lassana Diarra has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane for a while now, and with speculation surrounding his future refusing to go away, a move to London for around £8m may yet be on the cards.
Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he will not stand in Diarra’s way if a suitable offer were to come in, and Redknapp sees the French international as the ideal anchorman for Spurs’ midfield, who can give their vast array of talented attacking players the licence to push forward.
The only other area of concern in Redknapp’s team is at left-back, where Benoit Assou Ekotto continues to frustrate his manager with his either brilliant or exasperating displays. With this in mind, the Spurs boss is also being linked with a move for Marseille’s no-nonsense defender, Gabriel Heinze, in the hope that the former United and Real Madrid man will bring a bit of stability to Spurs’ left flank.
A bid of £4m would be enough to secure the Argentine’s services, and set up a Real-reunion with Diarra and Rafael van der Vaart at White Hart Lane as Spurs push for a trophy.
