The battle is set to commence over the winter transfer window and some top names have already confirmed there attendance Spurs and the Gunners will be joined by Premiership strugglers West Ham as well as European heavy weights AS Monaco, Hamburg, Schalke and Benfica.
Gameiro, 23, chose to sign for the Stade du Moustoir club over Champions League regulars Marsielle, in a move which showed that he wanted to prove himself at the highest level as a regular starter, and not as a promising youngster brought on in cup ties.
His great form in Ligue 1 (30 goals in 79 starts) has led to a rapid rise through the French national set up, and he was widely expected to make Raymond Domenechs World Cup squad but, unfortunately for Gameiro an injury sustained prior to the friendly against Spain put paid to his hopes.
He has since been capped at senior level by new French manager Laurant Blanc, in the Euro 2012 qualifier against Belarus. This national success can only lead to his transfer value sky-rocketing and the €3 million Lorient paid in 2008 to Strasbourg is likely to be as much as £13 million now for the jet heeled striker.
