The 21 year old has recently broken into the Dutch manager Bert van Marwijk’s national side, making his debut in a recent friendly against Ukraine, after having success at at youth level.
With both clubs achieving recent success in their respective European competitions it is thought that a move to these respective clubs would be a very attractive proposition for Van Wolfswinkel. However, with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp successfully taking the North London club to the Champions League for the first time in their history, the White Hart Lane club is becoming a widely regarded up and coming top European club within world football, a feat with has not a large number of Europe’s best up and coming players.
A move to England for van Wolfswinkel could be a very difficult decision for the youngster, who has never played outside of Holland, However, with new signing Rafael Van Der Vaart at Tottenham and Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel applying their trade at Anfield, it is though that either of these parties could help entice the Utrecht number 9 to the Premier League.
The former Vitesse striker could be just what both Liverpool and Tottenham are looking for as they are both currently in need of a striker to help boost their attacking lines. While the player is fairly young in terms of experience, his potential talent and recent form, which has saw van Wolfswinkel net 16 times in 38 games for his club, could command an asking price upwards of £6 million, a price that could possibly be currently out of Liverpool’s range.
