Spurs can bolster their back-line with a swoop for this highly-rated English defender

Spurs are preparing for life back in the Champions League under Mauricio Pochettino, with fans fully expecting the club to make a decent fist of winning Europe’s premier competition for the first time.

Last season saw continued improvement for Spurs, and the likes of Kane, Eriksen, and Alli were crucial to their success.

Next season will represent a different challenge, and a quiet summer so far in the transfer market has not done some of our Spurs fans here in the Tavern any good in terms of their confidence.

One position which needs adding to for Spurs is in defence following the loss of Kyle Walker, and one player our landlord thinks would be an excellent addition is Brighton man Lewis Dunk.

The 25-year-old was a colossus for the Seagulls last term as they won promotion to the Premier League under Chris Hughton, and his stock continues to rise year on year.

Dunk is a commanding presence at the back, and looks to have all the attributes to be a top defender in the Premier League. He will be buoyed by the likes of Michael Keane and Harry Maguire securing big money moves, and a move to a club like Spurs could prove too tempting for him to ignore.

Spurs themselves need to add some height and presence to their defence, and the capture of a player like Dunk would certainly please fans. There’s little doubt he can step up to the top level, it’s just a case of whether someone like Pochettino is willing to give the big defender a chance.

Spurs fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
