Spurs closely monitoring Steven Bergwijn

Mauricio Pochettino is starting to lose the faith of the supporters after a rough run of results, with a top four spot now not looking so certain with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in the race.

The only thing that has gone right for the North London club in recent times has been in the Champions League as they managed to knock German giants Borussia Dortmund out of the competition last week.

So, the summer transfer window could hold the answers with holes starting to appear domestically.

What’s the news?

PSV Eindhoven’s Steven Bergwijn is being closely monitored by a host of top clubs in Europe, including Tottenham Hotspur, according to De Telegraaf (via Goal.com).

The likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan are understood to have been impressed by the Dutchman this season.

Indeed, the attacker decided to stay at his current club back in the January transfer window, which could see PSV earn a ‘mega-deal’ for the 21-year-old this year.

The Verdict:

Steven Bergwijn has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in European football in the current campaign, having produced 12 goals and 13 assists in all competitions. He operates as a left winger and looks to make use of his pace, skill and dribbling ability to get himself into promising positions.

Spurs are currently light on options out wide and have lacked pace in the final third this season, so Bergwijn would be the perfect summer addition for Mauricio Pochettino.

Of course, with a number of European clubs interested in signing him it will be difficult for Spurs to come out on top, so fans will be hoping that Daniel Levy is feeling generous this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur fans, could Bergwijn be the man to take you forward?
