Tottenham supporters have been looking rather crestfallen in the Football Transfer Tavern this afternoon. Yesterday’s 6-0 thumping away at Manchester City is nearly as bad a performance as they can remember since supporting the White Hart Lane club.
It came despite the club spending over £100million on new talent during the summer and the pressure is now building on Andre Villas-Boas to turn it around.
Now Sports Direct News suggests that a possible solution will come from an existing Premier League player as they report that Tottenham are plotting a surprise January bid for Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa in the January transfer window.
The Japanese star missed United’s 2-2 draw with a foot injury picked up on international duty but has been used fleetingly by David Moyes this term as he looks to secure a place in the Japan World Cup squad.
Spurs have scored just nine times this season and now Villas-Boas must hope that a move for the 24-year-old could be the answer to his attacking problems.
He is likely to be made available for transfer by David Moyes as the former Everton boss attempts to reduce the wage bill at Old Trafford, although selling him to a rival Premier League side does seem unlikely.
Other potential suitors for the winger include Valencia and Atletico Madrid , while his former side Borussia Dortmund may seek a possible reunion if he becomes available in January.
